Reducing energy costs with commercial renewables
Specialising in installing commercial renewables since 2009, Lincolnshire-based NerG will be exhibiting at the Midlands Machinery Show for the very first time this year, to help farmers looking to invest in renewable energy for their farm.
Working across the agricultural sector, from small farms to large commercial businesses, NerG works with clients as long term partners in renewable solutions, specialising in commercial solar PV, biomass boilers, and combined heat and power. The company also installs district heating networks predominantly for biomass boiler systems.
“Farming is a big part of NerG’s heritage, so we’ve been heavily involved in the farming sector for a good number of years,” says Luke Worrall, Business Development Manager at NerG. “We pride ourselves in being a local business that establishes long-term relationships with our clients.
“Exhibiting at the Midlands Machinery Show for the first time seemed like an opportune moment for us to speak to some of our existing clients and potentially new clients.
“It’ll be a good way for us to network, and also have open conversations with people as to what their opportunities might be, or what they might consider in the future and how things have changed.”
Luke and the NerG team are looking at opportunities at the Midlands Machinery Show to give farmers the understanding of how commercial renewables can reduce their running costs and also diversify their current income stream on the farm, with the wider discussion in the local Lincolnshire area focusing on mass scale solar energy.
“We have a lot of questions from farmers about what solar can deliver them in terms of an income stream that will diversity their current revenue sources, as well as how it might help to reduce their overheads from existing drying or processing, energy use, and also improve their energy security and their resilience to price rises,” says Luke.
“People might have considered things like solar five or ten years ago and it might not have stacked up then, but costs have come down dramatically, and so it could be that we are actually able to help, and as a farmer they can limit their risk from energy costs and can create diversified income stream from selling power back to the grid.”
While they specialise in the installation of solar panels, biomass boilers and other commercial renewables, it’s not all that NerG offers – also providing the servicing side of things, keeping installations in top working condition.
“We don’t just look to install a bit of equipment and move on to the next client,” says Luke. “For us, it’s all about a long-term partnership with our clients and that’s crucial for our business.
“Exhibiting at the Midlands Machinery Show is for us about reinforcing existing partnerships and establishing new ones. It’s about not just signing new clients to install equipment, but also to help farmers get the most out of their assets to reduce their costs and generate power as efficiently as possible.”
