AMTEC to showcase new Torox discs at Midlands Machinery Show

AMTEC Farm Machinery will be making its debut at the Midlands Machinery Show this November, bringing with it a piece of kit that has already generated strong interest among farmers across the UK - the Torox range of discs.

For the first time, visitors will be able to see the heavy-duty discs up close on AMTEC’s stand, with models including 3 m, 4.1 m, and 5.7 m trailed sets on display. The launch marks a significant step for the business, which has combined customer feedback with robust design to reintroduce a style of disc harrow that many growers will remember from the days of Simba machines.

Meeting farmer demand

The Torox discs were developed in direct response to increasing demand from a broad range of farmers - from vegetable growers to arable producers on heavy clay soils.

Tristan Ellis, who has been closely involved in bringing the machines to market, said: “We’ve seen a real resurgence in demand from farmers who need a heavy, effective disc to break into tough ground conditions.

“Vegetable growers, particularly brassica producers, want the ability to cut through deep tap roots and bring residues to the surface. On heavy clay land, the weight and diameter of the discs allow them to dig in, invert the profile, and leave a workable seedbed. That’s exactly what the Torox range delivers.”

The discs feature 710 mm blades as standard, offering plenty of cutting capacity. With up to 160 kg of downforce per disc, the machines are designed to tackle demanding soils, while hydraulic adjustment of the front and rear gangs - up to 25 degrees - gives operators precise control over how aggressively they work.

Built to last

Strength and build quality are central to the Torox design. Drawing inspiration from the old Simba offset disc harrows but updating them with modern features, the machines are designed to withstand the rigours of UK farming.

“The three things I like most about our range are the large diameter discs, the weight per disc, and the hydraulic gang adjustment,” said Tristan. “Together, those features make them versatile, hard-wearing, and suited to the jobs farmers really need them for.”

Why Midlands Machinery Show?

For AMTEC, the Midlands Machinery Show offers the perfect stage to introduce the Torox discs to a wide audience. Based in Warwickshire, but with customers nationwide, the company specialises in buying and selling quality used farm machinery - particularly drills and cultivators - and also operates one of the UK’s largest hire fleets of cultivation and drilling equipment.

Jason White, Marketing Manager at AMTEC, said the show is a natural fit for the business:

“The Midlands Machinery Show is close to home, focused on machinery, and attracts the kind of forward-thinking farmers we work with every day.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to talk to customers about our hire options and used machinery, but it’s also the first time people will be able to see the Torox discs in person.

“We’ve had a direct hand in developing them, and this is our chance to put them in front of farmers and show what they can do.”

Looking ahead

With strong build quality, thoughtful design, and a clear focus on what farmers need, the Torox range looks set to be a valuable addition to AMTEC’s portfolio. The company is confident the discs will resonate with growers seeking reliable, heavy-duty kit to manage challenging soils and crop residues.

Tristan Ellis said: “The Torox discs are a product we’re proud of, and we think visitors will immediately see the benefits when they come and take a look.”
